But not for the reasons that I am sure the publishers hoped for:

I wonder if he's called 'Manuel Manolito De La Cruz,' the somewhat unfortunately named hero of some other mad vampire book. Why am I driven to read descriptions of these books when I don't even like vampires as fictional characters all that much? I have issues, clearly.

I think having anything on the cover would surely be better than the terrifying visage there is currently gracing it.

Wait, you don't like vampires? *is confused*

I like the idea of vampires as villains quite a bit and think there they are a great idea; I am less fond of vampires as apparently hot, endlessly emoing sex gods who just have an issue with sunshine. And may eat people. :)

Yeah, I remember you posting about that. I think I was surprised because you posted about a lot of vampire fiction recently and most of them seemed to be of the emo variety. But then that's how most of them are nowadays, I guess. What I don't like about vampire fiction is when they are too emo to eat people. None of this eating rats and other small animals nonsense. I mean, they're damned already.

o_0 Now that I think of it, I can't wait for the Twilight movie to come out so I can photoshop a "Go cry, Emo Vampire." macro.

I feel that if Twilight produces nothing else that is good it may still redeem itself via that icon.

Actually it was Twilight that started me on the vampire reading. I posted about how I couldn't finished that book then got some more suggestions. And then was horrified to discover how large the paranormal romnance novel contingent was. And it is almost entirely filled with annoying, emo vampires.

What I don't like about vampire fiction is when they are too emo to eat people. None of this eating rats and other small animals nonsense. I mean, they're damned already.

Yes! Stop going on about how you are fighting for a humanity that doesn't appreciate your sacrifices. Just eat people and get staked like the good, old-fashioned sort! Dracula never had these issues.

That's bad, but it doesn't hold a candle to Night Travels of the Elven Vampire (http://crevette.livejournal.com/113659.html) with the photoshopped Orlando Bloom photo.

*boggles*

Sometimes when you think there is no further to fall you are unpleasantly surprised by someone adding an extra drop. This is one of those times.

Though I am enthralled by the description of the novel and the extracts.

I saw that cover and I immediately knew I was reading your journal without having to so much as glance at your icon.

I should probably be more ashamed than I am that I am becoming associated in your mind with horrific romance novel covers and vampires.

Wait till you see my paranormal romance covers of shame post....

I bet those were really Nightmares. Jeeze, who looked at that and thought "yeah, sexay!"

I know. He looks like he's planning on devouring your soul - and not in a hot, attractive way either! Ugh!

Is he wearing lipstick? Because a cross-dressing vampire would be an interesting character, maybe. Or maybe he's just metrosexual.

But whatever it is, it's not sexy.

I suspect that paranormal romances don't get edgy enough to have cross-dressing vampires. Mainly they are just hyper manly and emo. And apparently want to eat your soul judging by this cover.
