I just spent the afternoon at a friend's house watching the glory that is Tashan. It may have been the company (these people are the BEST for watching Bollywood with), it may have been the amazing Indian food they cooked, it may just be my Saif Ali Khan love taking, but I DON'T CARE. I am willing to announce that it is one of the best* Bollywood films I have ever seen. THE FINAL SCENE WITH THE FLAME THROWERS AND THE NINJAS AND THE HAND GRENADES AND THE JET SKI AND THE BICYCLE WITH KNIVES IS ALONE WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION.

* Where 'best' may have a definition other than that normally used.

They moved like cougars with flame-throwers, jet-skis, and guns. IT WAS AMAZING.

I burst out laughing when I read your last sentence. That does sound like one of the "best" Bollywood movies out there.

It's amazing. Truly amazing. The thing is with Bollywood films is that when they go madly over the top they usually do it with style.

(And this is actually an interesting reflection on the Westernization of Bollywood at times; I may have fallen in love with the ninjas, but my respect goes out to them for playing with that issue in such an amazing explosion filled fashion.)

That last sentence made me laugh out loud, because I was thinking "This is the best Bollywood movie ever, for Bollywood!" and then it is clearly totally true!

This Bollywood outBollywooded most Bollywoods. Which is impressive. I should add, though, that the film is actually an interesting AND explosion filled look at the Westernization of Bollywood. So, it has flamethrowers and an attempt to engage with something that is splitting the styles of films more and more. What could be better?

I enjoyed every second of this film and that's no lie. And apart from all the mad explosions and gun fights and people scheming I was really interested that they really were playing with some other issues, like the creeping Westernization of Bollywood. And India. And all with tashan!

You have awesome friends. I live in boring Coquitlam. On the other hand, there's an Indian store at Lougheed mall. Hmm...
