The Scorpion King 2

What can I say about a film that has Hittites, Herodotus, the Sword of Damocles, Astarte, Knossos, Greek epic and the Minotaur all co-existing together? THAT IT IS A WORK OF GENIUS. The only thing they missed out was having the Roman show up and conquer everyone.

And thus I celebrate Canada Day. It feels right somehow.

ETA I just saw an ad for Christian Mingle. Where God apparently wants me to go to mingle with other Christians. And then climb on their backs on a sunlit beach. IF I DO NOT ACT NOW I WILL BE LETTING GOD DO ALL THE WORK. Or something like that.

It would have been better with Romans. Particularly if Karl Urban had played one!

Happy Canada Day!

Or dragons. Or Roman Dragons.

And HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Maybe Karl Urban can play the minotaur...

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2011-07-04 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
I think Karl Urban should just ride in as Eomer, spear some people and then vanish with absolutely no explanation at all. That would add the final surrealist touch to this work of genius.

Oh my, I've seen that commercial. ::::boggles:::

And heh, you're right about that movie.

:::choses Ziggurat of Ur icon in honor of movie::::

Apparently Christian Mingle is the only way to fine the person God wants me to meet!

[identity profile] jenlev.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
I've tried to resist saying this, but I can't.....I'm guessing that over the centuries other methods have applied. They just didn't give the woman much choice about it.

That felt really good to type, which probably means I should delete it, but there you go. *veg*

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2011-07-04 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
If God thought it was good for women to have choice, he wouldn't have let them be oppressed for so long. SO SAYETH THE LORD AND CHRISTIAN MINGLE. Also, God thinks that going to other sites is a sin. Because that special, godly person is only waiting for you there. Elsewhere it's all Satanists and Atheists.

[identity profile] jenlev.livejournal.com 2011-07-04 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Have I mentioned that i adore you? *hugs*

PS. As much as I'm giggling, the scary thing is that there are people who really do believe that. *sigh* Humans. *headdesk*

As I am gay, I'm guessing Christian Mingle is expecting God to do all the work for me.

Of course, that is why He made gay bars. And it was good.

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
But do gay bars have the person God apparently has on hold for you? Christian Mingle does! (Which seems awfully presumptuous, but what do I know?)

[identity profile] oxymoron67.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
You know, if God already has the perfect match for me, why can't He just send him my way?

Why is He outsourcing?

[identity profile] namastenancy.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
God obviously has not got the memo - think global, buy local. Or, in this case, send that perfect person to the bar where you are.
Jeeze - you'd think God could figure that one out.

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2011-07-04 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
God has never been good on the details. He's more of a big ideas person.

That was an awesome way to celebrate Canada day. I didn't even realize there was a second Scorpion King. I am always in awe about how you find these rare jewels.

I celebrated Canada Day by participating in my college roommate's wedding. She married a Canadian, and all of the groomsmen were Canadian, too, so when the ceremony was over and we had walked out, I wished all of them a Happy Canada Day. They were pleasantly surprised that I had remembered/knew about it.

I don't know how I find these things...they just call to me across the airwaves. Like Sirens luring me to my doom.

OMG! That commercial cracks me up every time! Basically he's saying "Get off your lazy ass and take some responsibility for your own life, you looser. God has better things to do than get you a date, you know. Do you even read the news?" LOL!

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2011-07-04 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I also like the way they imply that by going to other sites you'll be committing a sin, because only they have THE PERSON GOD WANTS YOU TO BE WITH. Heady stuff.
