Some recent lj posts about Davison and the Fifth Doctor has made me realise that words cannot express how much I want this on DVD. It really is one of my favourite Who stories, despite the Black Guardian's unfortunate taste in head gear (he wears what looks like a hollowed out pigeon on his head. As he's evil, it's a black pigeon.

I have it on tape (which I am terrified will break one day) but it's not the same. I want commentary dammit! I want nice images and extras and all the other stuff. Why is there so little of Davison's Doctor on DVD? Is it because the BBC hates me?

This is my favorite Tegan serial. It's as close to "women's fiction" as DW ever gets. It's just so...trashy. In a good way. *g It's splendidly over the top. Immortal SCA wanna bes. Tegan Jovanka in High Edwardian and ducking a creepy yet persistent stalker. The undercurrent of Five/Tegan through out. Tegan's scary koala/teddy bear/vampire thingie.

And I suppose the Turlough resolution.

Are you kidding? I'd love a commentary on this puppy! That would be very naughty I'm thinking.

I love this one - it's about the only one they put Tegan in a decent frock. And it has buxom lady pirates and good and evil in physical form and everything. How could you not like it?

Every now and then I imagine for myself a lovely boxset of the Black Guardian trilogy. And then sigh, as it seems so very far away.

My crappy avi of Enlightenment is one of my most treasured possessions. And oh for a Stricko commentary...

Bet they release bloody Kinda or something next, the swines.

God knows what they will release next. Probably 'Tom Baker stares into space for a long time' or something. Five seems to be unfortunate in his releases in particular.

And icon love! Turlough being tortured by immortal space pirates will never get old.

Along with shouting at crystals and spitting at zombies. Poor Turlough: suffers from almost as bad a DVD drought as Davison. I want more ginger schoolboys on shiny discs!

What person would not?

I heard that Peter Davidson is doing commentary on every one of his episodes, and that is apparently why that is taking his eps so long to be released.

That's interesting to know. While I am gleeful because he is good on them I still wish he could go faster. :)

I don't know much about the particular Who ep but there are DVD players that convert VHS tapes to discs. If you can't do it yourself (aka are like me, tech-challenged :P), there are shops that do that.

This is a good suggestion - I can actually digitize at work. But then I'd have to learn slyly so that I would not have to confess to people I am digitizing Dr. Who and nothing work related.

But I am greedy enough to want all the little extras and commentary (Davison's episodes have very funny commentaries as a rule) because I am a sad fangirl.
