Jason Bateman on the possibility of an Arrested Development film:

“When it was on TV, if you missed one word the whole third act could be blown for you. And TV is a different experience. You come home and you've got to finish a call so you miss the first ten minutes or you get snacky and you go to the fridge and you miss another two minutes, so it's a different experience to film.”

I've seen some of this show: I like it, I think it's funny enough, but it is not a show I feel compelled to hang onto EVERY GOLDEN SECOND OF BECAUSE OTHERWISE I WILL MISS THE MEANING OF IT ALL. It's a sitcom! A good and funny one, but it's not Hamlet or some other wonder of Western civilization. And Mr. Bateman, if you think people pay attention to every word in a film clearly you must go to some magic cinema I've never been to. Most people are too busy wondering where the popcorn went to and why that child is kicking the back of their chair for that.
