Totally reminds me of my feelings about the first set of English subtitles for Pride. They were clearly done by a Chinese/Taiwanese fan so they had translated the names using the Chinese pronunciation of Japanese names so Halu became Qing, Aki became Qiu and all around it was just as a really terrible disaster. I hated Pride (for many reasons) so it didn't bother me so much but for Good Luck! (which I love dearly), the inconsistencies between the English subtitles and the Chinese subtitles made me determined to get to the bottom of what on earth the characters were actually saying. I got so obsessive I actually taught myself enough Japanese so that I could transcribe the Japanese subtitles so I could get confirmation from a Japanese speaker of which was more correct - the Chinese or the English translation. Proof is here. Sometimes I terrify myself ;)
