Well, the man himself would have been horrified given that the Romans thought drinking beer was one step above strangling your parents in the barbarian stakes, but it still exists. And that makes me happy. Here's to Pliny!

And your Pliny the Elder remedy of the day: a wolf's liver in mulled wine will cure a cough. THE MORE YOU KNOW.

Can I substitute a skunk's liver? Because wolves are kind of thin on the ground here, but skunks we got.

Good question. You know, I am pretty sure the effectiveness of the cure won't be affected by any changes...

I love it....er, on both counts. ;)

I wonder what would happen if you mixed them both together? Would time and space collapse?

Possibly. And the family of the wolf would rightfully come after the drinker and the brewer.

I love it! Now, have you actually tried it to make sure it was up to the standards of Pliny the Elder?

I have not! I feel conflicted: Pliny would be so horrified at the very idea of beer, but still it's beer! named after him!

Well, yes, that wolf's liver in mulled wine will kill your cough, mostly because you'll be too busy retching.

But that's what the vomitorium is for, right?
And ROFLOL!

Pshaw! A little wolf's liver never harmed anyone! Now, rubbing bear grease on your loins, that sounds a little dodgier.

I can't wait until you're running your own apothecary on Etsy.

In the meantime, what does Pliny the Elder recommend for stress and procrastination?

I can't wait either but I am not going to buy, no way.

Not even the lynx hairs to keep yourself from love potions?

I will be channeling the wisdom of the ages. Or Pliny, at any rate.

If his nephew is right, Pliny would recommend stopping foolishness like walking and wasting valuable time you could be reading. Instead he would suggest getting yourself a litter and some fine strapping litter bearers and having yourself carried around so you could read and take notes. Oh and stuff a secretary in there with you, so he can take down your moments of genius.
