Parlour: Favorite party or board game?
When I was growing up, when people got together they played pinochle. I never learned to play because all I wanted to do was read.
I remember playing monopoly, which always seemed to go on too long for me. But I never was much for games (or so I remember it). I’m not very competitive and don’t enjoy being around people who take these things too seriously.
I did enjoy building 1000 piece puzzles at my cousin’s house when I was older. You’d work on your own part and just make jokes and stuff.
Living room: What do like to do with your family? N/A
I’m reading two good books right now. Guilty Thing: A Life of Thomas De Quincey
by Frances Wilson. I knew nothing about De Quincey except his name. And I’m learning a lot about Wordsworth, not all of it good.
And The Legend of Baby Doe
by John Burke. The mines of Colorado made a lot of millionaires in the late 19th century. Elizabeth Doe married one of them and I’m still in the part of her life where things are prosperous. But there are dark clouds on the horizon. Her rise and fall and struggles to rise again are what made her a legend.
