Ireland: the kdrama, not the country

I really, really want to see this because, well, it mentions Ireland. But at the same time I fear it and what it might do to my poor country. Apparently the heroine is adopted into a family of Irish terrorists who manage to get blown up in front of her thus causing her (not unnaturally, I feel) severe mental trauma. In short, she goes around the bend a bit and then flies back to Korea to drown herself there because otherwise there wouldn't be a story she now hates the Shannon, that mighty body of quite lovely water.* And then she manages to fall in love with her brother, which doesn't surprise me at all as she has no step-brother handy. There is also cheating and things and some actress forced to star in soft porn to feed her family.

Anyone seen it? On a scale of 1-10 how much melodrama do you think they'll fit in? And will Ireland's name be sullied?

* This bit I have made up entirely. No, not the drowning bit, the bit about hating the Shannon.

That's the plot of Ireland? It's a good thing I'm not a big Hyun Bin fan and never felt the need to watch this. But I would love to see your comments on it if you do.

I am not entirely sure of some of the details of the plot, but the family getting blown up is apparently true. I am torn between fear and fascination, with fascination winning enough for me to start getting the first two episodes.

I am rather excited that they upped the FORBIDDEN element of the love story. Can get much more forbidden than falling in love with your brother. I smell tragedy!

Hee! Like it would be so hard to find a place to drown yourself in Ireland.

Yes! I felt sad for Irish water that she was spurning it but apparently she feels a need to drown herself in a Korean river. I am not sure why but it will provide me with many hours of melodramatic Forbidden Love so I'm not complaining.

OMG. How do you FIND these things?

I am a huge Hyun Bin* fan and even I never felt any interest in this. Also, I think [livejournal.com profile] alexandral tried it post-Snow Queen induced Hyun Bin like, and didn't get through it either.

Basically, stay away from the evilness :)

If you want angsty Hyun Bin try Snow Queen :)

* who has a minor role in it anyway.

Ireland is quite, quite dreadful. Though I am screencapping the 'Ireland' bits and the dead parents because I can't stop myself.

I hope Hyun Bin isn't the hideously unattractive secondary male because if he is he must have cleaned up a lot between this one and Snow Queen.

Hyun Bin looks like this:

I cannot say who he is in Ireland as I avoided that one at all costs....

You were wise, very wise. I will be doing a picspam of not!Ireland pictures complete with fake!Irish parents and the harp-playing terrorist brother.

Hyun Bin is not the guy I found terribly unattractive. He plays the first guy the heroine hooks up with. Why she dumps him for ghastly looking other guy (who is also her brother) I do not know. I guess they are trying to point out that blood seeks blood or something.

*Swoons*
He is so going to play the pure-hearted Korean-Canadian musician dreamboat in the big-screen version of my yet-to-be published webcomic of superpowered musicians.

I found it dreadful too (and the only good this is "Oh Danny boy" song )- and on top of all dreadfulness Hyun Bin didn't even got the girl!!!!!! Have you not seen "Kim Sam Soon" yet??? It has both Daniel Hennely and Hyun Bin and both get the girls!!!!!

Ireland is pretty bad. I don't know who 'wrote' it but most of the first three episodes made no sense. Though I did screen cap some of the moments set in fake!Ireland because it was so very strange - I really thought her terrorist brother playing the Irish harp was very funny. Those vicious terrorists and their harp playing!

Hyun Bin plays the first guy the heroine meets, the bodyguard, right?

I have Kim Sam Soon on order so I am waiting for the DVDs. I decided I'd rather not watch it on the computer unless I had to.

Hee! He is the one! I promise a Hyun Bin picspam tomorrow - it is a while since I made a picspam of him and he is probably THE favourite of mine among Korean actors.

Nothing makes sense in "Ireland" and especially fake Ireland.

** is rejoiced that you have ordered KSS ** I can't wait to see what you think of Daniel Henney there . He made me swoon really hard and forget that I am there for Hyun Bin's sake. :D
