Age of Steel

How good was this episode? So good I had commentary for the blind over part of it and I still thought it was amazing!

Er, right, I know some people aren't happy with it. But as far as I am concerned I wouldn't have changed any of it.

Except perhaps for the long bit where the Doctor talks a lot about human emotions.  And how that makes us all great. Or something. Actually, isn't he from Gallifrey and with a whole set of other emotions or whatsits?

Things which were excellent:

1. Hundreds of Cybermen.  Oh yes, I want my money's worth, and that means lots of Cybermen and excess.  And I got it. Plus CyberJackie.  That's what you get for being mean to the service staff. Okay I think that's a bit excessive in the karma stakes and it made me sad, but still...hundreds of Cybermen.

2. The Cybercontroller throne. Man, if ever I become the evil emotionless overlord of the universe I will have one of those.  It was glittery and shiny and really evil looking.

3. Rose and Pete and the infiltration squad. And I was sad when Pete couldn't deal with with Rose being his daughter.  Because I like Rose. There I've said it.  They made an excellent pair, except for the bit where they got caught.  And Pete was the mole? Great.  But because I am stupid I thought they'd kill him and let Jackie live. Really, everyone else on the 'net is all 'I knew they'd never kill Pete' but not me.  Nope, I'm obviously clueless.

4. Mrs. Moore. And a code name from E.M. Forster, not exactly an author who screams 'source of spy names'? Excellent. And she had bombs and got killed which was sad, but not as sad as...

5. Poor Cyberwoman who the Doctor had to put down. Also, er, I am a wee bit embarassed, but I thought the whole 'I was getting married thing' wasn't too much at all.  I may have gotten rather sad there

6. Mickey and companion going off to liberate Paris!  Way to go boys and pick one of the quality cities to liberate.  No liberating Milton Keynes for you!

Oh fair enough, I like it all. Every shiny, shiny second of it. Even the resolution to the cliffhanger, because the resolution to the cliffhangers were always a bit rubbish. There were always getting him in situations where the solution was a bit dodgy.  Though that sonic screwdriver can apparently do everything. I wonder if it can also still put up shelves?

YAY! Good to know I wasn't the only one who loved it. :)

and of course THE REMOVAL OF HIS TIE!

Cybercontroller throne > Davros Chair.
Cybermen > Daleks.

But can CyberJackie still get signals from Venezuala?

It was the crystal that destroyed the Cybermen. I was looking at the screen thinking "Can he do that? He can't do that! He doesn't have the weapon!"

Agree on all 6 points. I liked how neat the resolution of Doctor-Rose-Mickey was made, it felt right and I was all emotional.. :)
