HOW COULD I FORGET

So I watched part of that film with Sean Bean fighting sloths and zombies in primeval times that aren't actually primeval because, of course, zombies are all that is left after civilisation has collapsed. Well, of course, there are some incredibly annoying non-zombie people living in a community with two rather unappealing looking heroes. GOD, I THOUGHT I COULD WATCH ANYTHING BUT THIS...THIS DEFEATED ME. I imagine Mr. Bean was paid handsomely for appearing on set for about two days but he should feel deep, deep shame. Even going by his often low standards this set new lows. THE AGONY. About the only thing that would make me watch the end is if someone promised me that everyone was eaten by a giant sloth that feasted on their hearts.

Also:
1. I read the Percy Jackson series at the recommendation of a student. They were surprisingly fun, though that kid has worse luck than Hercules. I think I will buy the follow ons which have the gods with Roman names.
2. I watched Centurion, with the killer Picts facing off against the Romans. I always imagine the Romans spent one afternoon in Scotland, retreated at the cold and build Hadrian's Wall in a feverish attempt to cut down on wind chill
3. Have enjoyed Lost Girl. It's one of those lovely series where I like everyone except the people I am supposed to hate. V. soothing.
4. Let my shaming Merlin addiction run its course. It was fun, but I don't think I am quite cured yet. THE SHAME. THE SHAME.

I saw that movie. I thought maybe it was a different Sean Bean, because I couldn't actually wrap my head around the idea that he'd really do a movie that horrifyingly bad. Then I saw him, and was sad. :(

You have an amazing skill for finding truly bad things to watch... I don't know how you do it.

Even worse, that movie was conceived as the first of three, iirc. At least two. So the misery may not be over yet. ::shudders::

How did I manage to miss this one! Or did I? No, I'm pretty sure I would remember random sloths.

You could always skip to the last five minutes of the movie to see who's still alive and who was killed.

1. I liked the Percy Jackson series, too, and now I'm waiting to get the first book of the next series from the library. (I was also able to have some fun conversations about the series with one of the 5th graders at my school. He was very excited when he discovered I had read them.)

2. I love your explanation for Hadrian's Wall. I might have to teach that as a fact to my 9th graders when we reach that point in the World History class and see if they actually believe me.

3. I haven't watched Lost Girl, but I have been enjoying reading people's commentary on it.

4. Give it a little more time. You'll be able to find the strength to fight the addiction.

Percy Jackson is awesome. Like Harry Potter, his damn problem is that he always knows this horrible info and has a mental connection with the villains, yet he doesn't pass that info on to his mentor, Chiron (or Dumbledore). Damn young heroes. So naive! ;P

The Percy Jackson books surprised me by being as fun as they were.

Lost Girl is just such fun.

The hideously long WILL ARTHUR FIND OUT ABOUT MERLIN thing is, like, too long. And I say that as a fan. Where are they stalling it at now?

I FEEL YOUR MERLIN-RELATED SHAME. But I can't stop watching it. It's just...sometimes they'll have an episode that's actually good, like if you took that episode on its own it would be doing something interesting with the legends, and it's all compelling and shit...and then you watch the next episode. *sigh*

This show is so confused. The main character is Merlin, so surely we should be on the magic-users side. And Uther is sometimes the bad guy. But people who hate Uther are also bad guys. And not in a moral-ambiguity kind of way, just in a wait-what-were-we-doing-here? kind of way. Does not make sense.
