Wuxia!

Where have you been hiding all my life? I have seen only the credits for The Little Fairy and already I am enthralled.

ETA: For some reason that I do not at all understand, the hero is obsessed with apples. And sticking them in jam or something.

ETA 2: Beside our main plot we also have another one of a celestial being falling in love with a human who is now a teacher who wears a floppy hat. And the Little Fairy has turned a random god into a carrot.

The opening is truly something. Not all wuxias have random anime characters thrown into the credits though.

The dragon crashing into the ground was my favourite bit.

I love the entire exchange between him and the King right before he gets pushed down the random giant hole in the middle of the heavenly court. That's when I knew it was the drama for me.

The apple thing is because he's trying to make an apple that will never rot for her so she can free her sister from Heaven!Prison.

Let us also not forget Ariel Lin's miniskirt in heaven.

A very scintillating wardrobe choice for wuxia indeed.

The bit where sister two comes to earth and fights it out with giant balls with evil heaven guard!

[identity profile] calixa.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Noo, that's not sister 2, that's CAT GIRL! The instigator of the CARPET DEATH.

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
But why is Cat Girl coming down to earth? And why is the Little Fairy turning random gods into carrots? I MUST KNOW THESE THINGS.

ps. I thought it was sister 2 because of the symbolism of the two balls and the love thing.

[identity profile] calixa.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Uhm... because Cat Girl wants to live on earth and experience love or something like that, and the giant carrot thing was just for lolz. A

s for the symbolism of the two balls, I confess I have no idea what you're talking about...

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
As Cat Girl flies off she is clutching these two giant balls and they look like....well, you know. And then she fights it out with three eyed guy while clutching the balls which grow red hot. It's a Freudian fantasy right there.

For once I have nothing to say.

This is what so many of Freud's contemporaries said.

I do believe LJ has just become a more heavenly place.

The opening cene/opening credits are amazing.

The apples...uhm...are an excuse for them to meet. That's about it...

Wait until you get to the part where Ariel Lin is flying around the sky, randomly shooting things.

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
I am especially impressed by the hero's ability to look gorgeous and confused at the same time.

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
It' because Ariel's there...if you tell Hu Ge that Ariel Lin is around, he will become a big, dumb, cute, lovable puppy. As you can tell.

I'm particularly fond of the hero's friends, both the pretty idiot and the overly serious one(who ends up with the daughter of the guy who does the bunny courting in sword stained with royal blood)

[identity profile] calixa.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
He is so good at looking confused... or stupid... it's quite endearing. And really good at looking completely smitten whenever Ariel Lin's in the vicinity.

Are all wuxia this good? Or does one have to put up with inferior and brighter heroes?

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
You shall be well guided in your wuxia viewing, never fear.

[identity profile] calixa.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
As with any genre, some's good, some aint. Though technically TLF isn't really a wuxia, it's more of a period fantasy romance.

Or does one have to put up with inferior and brighter heroes?

Usually... but NOT LOCH! It thrills me that GJ is even dumber than Di Gua.
