BSG - be still my shipper's heart
Alright, I'm not totally delusional: I know that Apollo and Starbuck are the love that is meant to be in the end, no matter what is going on now. However, my little Laura/Lee shipping heart went into overload tonight. He broke her out of the brig! They're on the run! They have to trust Zarek and never spend two nights in the same place! Er, while I know in real life that this is surely not romantic at all, it somehow is on screen. On a non-shipping note, one of my favourite cliches is the person who must make the choice in where their loyalties lie and they know that both of those choices are almost equally valid and both sides have great claims on them and this show gave me that cliche in spades tonight. Though I do feel that in real life Lee would either be catatonic or speaking in tongues by this point.
Most of what I feel about the other stuff is pure wibbling. The whole Boomer and the Chief thing led to a horrible presentation of human nature. Though I guess if a race of killer robots had wiped out my civilisation I'd probably be out there shouting and spitting too. But the poor chief - I think he'll be joining Lee in catatonia land soon. (It sounds like a holiday spot - Catatonia land! The journey there is horrible but we think you'll like the view! And no one ever gives you pointy objects to handle.)
The Caprica stuff was the weakest I thought. I like Starbuck, I really do. And I like that she's competent and able and a great pilot and also artistic plus able to take out Cylons with her bare hands. But I thought the being able to play as well as a professional athlete bit was a bit over done. I don't care how good you are (or were) and how bad the professional is, it's just not possible - certainly it's impossible if you haven't played in a while. Okay, mad Cylons who look like humans are also not really possible, but this is scifi and I expect things like that but you cannot violate basic rules of sports. Also, when I play sports I want to have a shower as soon as possible afterwards and then keel over somewhere and (usually) nurse my wounded pride. I have never thought when smashing into someone in a sport 'Oh he's alright, I'd do him.' But yet at the end of the Starbuck/Anders game there was the look of love/passion/something not relating to athletic activities that take place with clothes on. And all I could think was that you're not really trying if you're able to come up with a look like that after playing a game.
Adama, oh Adama. You picked an idiot as second in command. His wife can't even plot properly, for god's sake! And then you're surprised when everything gets screwed up. How long have you known this guy for? He shouldn't be running a hen house let alone a giant ship with guns and soldiers. And judging by the preview for next week you are going to compound his idiocy. Maybe it is your mad love for Tigh impelling you, but don't go there because that's the loony Baltar route of crazy, crazy love and we don't want that.
ETA: BSG looks very good on giant tv.

Agreed that the Caprica stuff was weak; it just seemed like a way to make sure Starbuck was in the episode, and that there's a new storyline to do if they need it -- hey, people aren't all dead! Some are just slowly dying! We could get a few more bodies to make up for the ones Tigh killed.

YES! *jumping up and down* And of course they'll end up having to share a bed while they're hiding. *eg*

LOL!
The professional sports team thing had me rolling my eyes.

I agree with you about the improbability of kara being able to keep up in the game. She's just a little too good at everything, except keeping her mouth shut. ;) But on this - I have never thought when smashing into someone in a sport 'Oh he's alright, I'd do him. - beg to differ. I don't think it's implausible, and it's certainly happened to me. Ysport+sexMV, of course.

Bwah! I like my athletes to keep their minds in the game, too.

Yes, yes, yes!! Ooh, how much did I love that? (Sorry, I think I haven't said that in, like, five minutes, so I'm squeeing here again.)
I agree with you regarding the Caprica storyline being the weakest part of the ep. There was good stuff there -- I liked Kara and Helo working together, for instance. But it had a sense of 'setting up stuff for later' to it and wasn't nearly as intense as the rest of the episode.
The sports thing didn't bother me much, though. Possibly because I'd heard about the Triad playing thing as Starbuck backstory, so unlike the artist stuff, which I considered all kinds of too much, I'm okay with that. (Though I am of two minds about the sexiness factor of sports. *g*)
Maybe it is your mad love for Tigh impelling you, but don't go there because that's the loony Baltar route of crazy, crazy love and we don't want that.
I blame it on the episode driving me round the bend, but this is making me giggle like mad. *g*
