As a woman who is utterly addicted to romance novels (though not this genre), I completely agree with your assessment of these ridiculous covers. I think the publishers are starting to wake up and move away from this type of cover. I mostly read Regency romances, and a lot of those are now completely free of people on the covers. Of course, there are some hilarious exceptions to that.
