Ridiculous car expenses
Jan. 20th, 2006 08:18 pmToday I dropped my car off to find out why the air bag light is on; it cost me $125 to discover that fixing that will cost over $800. What do they make the parts on Audis with? Platinum? It's only a sensor I am replacing, not the bloody engine! I told them I would just have to die horribly in some accident if the air bags do not deploy properly. Actually, as I am short it is probably safer to not have them working, though my passengers may feel differently. (But then as I am the only one who sees the light, they will not be perturbed by the knowledge). I am also miffed as the car only has about 21,000 miles on it, but it is out of warranty because of its age.
I could afford it (though it would be painful seeing the savings disappate) it just seems so much money for one part. And it would take the cheque I just got for some translation and then some and I have plans for that money that involve more frivolous things. Hmmm... so I guess it's airbagless driving for me for some time until I can work myself up into handing over that sort of money.
