Dec. 9th, 2009 11:01 pmTo cheer myself up I started watching this even though it was a Christmas gift and I should not be watching it so early. I am enjoying it muchly, even though Dawn French's acting is right out of the 'Buxom Wench #4" box. It's all chest heaving and winking.
(I would probably enjoy this more if I hadn't recently been to a lecture on the horrors of urban poverty in the English countryside in the 19th century. I want to think about happy peasants, not people scrubbing for a crust.)
