Films to heal the sick

To celebrate tonight's victory in the Stanley Cup Playoffs I bring you a list of films and shows that I watch when ill. Because that's what you're all really curious about.
These aren't films that aren't really the best things out there (but I have an unholy love for them, even the rubbish ones), but they are films or shows I've watched so often that I find them tremendously comforting and reassuring. And usually when I am ill what I want is something I can watch comfortably without hurting my brain.
And because I can: GO CAROLINA!!!!! WE WON!!!

And because I can: GO CAROLINA!!!!! WE WON!!!
1. Spartacus. The one with Kirk Douglas (the other is dead to me). Because seeing Kirk Douglas give the Romans a wallopingis a lot of fun, until they crucify him, that is. And the 'I'm Spartacus' scene never grows old.
2. The Winslow Boy. Jermey Northam at his finest. I have to admit I do tend to select the scenes where he and Kate Winslow snap at each other in repressed Victorian courtship. And the final scene is to die for.
3. X-Men. See Hugh Jackman as Wolverine! See Hugh Jackman fight in leather! Er, that's about it. I am sure there are other people in the film somewhere but I wouldn't know about that
4. The Dead. Well, pretty much that scene where Gabriel and Gretta are talking about how a young man she once loved died. Because that line she says - "I think he died from me' - and Gabriel's face as she says it is about the most perfect thing I have ever seen on screen. I am not sure why I like watching this when sick, but I do.
5. Bunty aur Babli. Shiny and fun Bollywood with great dances and heroes who cannot help but love. And opening dance/song number just makes me happy every time I watch it.
6. Pride and Prejudice. The Colin Firth one (is there any other?) I probably don't need to talk about this as everyone knows all about the wonders of Firth's Darcy. Also with a wonderful, wonderful Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth. And the costumes and settings are so gorgeous as well.
7.Doctor Who. Pretty much any episode I own. Except for the First Doctor, unless I want to sleep almost instaneously.
8. Wallace and Gromit. Especially the Shaun the Sheep one and the The Curse of the Were Rabbit.
9. Ripping Yarns. Tomkinson's Schooldays, with the nailing of the new boys to the wall, the traditional fight with the bear, Tomkinson hopping for the school accross the mountains against the rival school (where some of the boys had hopped for England) is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. As is Escape from Stalag Luft 112B about a POW in WWI who is so fond of escaping that he even escaped before he had been captured by the Germans. And the glider made out of loo rolls is also excellent.
10. Sherlock Holmes. The ones with Jeremy Brett. Anyone of them will do though I am partial to Silver Blaze and The Hound of the Baskervilles.
