Tag underneath story about Charlize Theron in The Guardian: "CT hasn't let her astonishing beauty stand in her way." I, for one, am glad that she has struggled so hard so that beautiful people everywhere can end their oppression and suffering. And no, I am not reading the story and I don't care if it's about her saving baby seals and ending world hunger.

ETA: This reminds me of when the NY Times magazine did a story on how much Sofia Coppola had suffered because people just wouldn't take her seriously because she had such famous relations. We should all have such suffering. This led to an intensely hilarious letter which said something like "Sofia Coppola is an example to young people the world over for showing how you can achieve success although burdened with wealth, connections, and opportunities."

You are so, so mean. Being a woman of astonishing beauty myself (see icon), I understand how hard it is to overcome the stigma the world attaches to my looks, and so I have retreated to the rain forest to live with the lemurs, because they are not so judgey.

This post brought to you by the letter S for Sarcasm. :-)

It's this sort of rampant discrimination against the beautiful and the tragic loss of many gorgeous people to life in the rain forest that I am sure she is struggling against. If only more people would come forward to tell their stories of pain we would all be better for it.

I know! But people just refuse to understand the suffering and agony of hard working beautiful people that goes on every day. There's not even a charity set up to help them that's how tragic it is.

I cry EVERY NIGHT over the pain endured by Charlize Theron and supermodels everywhere.

My thought when I see comments like that is "yes, well, we know what you consider her greatest and only value to be. I hope she never lets you interview her again."

In all fairness I haven't read the interview so maybe it's just the person who wrote the headline.

You know what's most pathetic? Charlize Theron probably did have to struggle to build a good life for herself. But I doubt it had much to do with her looks. Her childhood reads like a made-for-TV movie, and the reporter had to fall back on her FACE as the problem? That's just embarrassing.

As I said to Megan above it might be the fault of whatever idiot wrote the headline and the tag. But I suspect not and I don't want to read the review to find out as it could be horrendous.

It's the 'astonishing' that makes it for me. Not just beauty; astonishing beauty.

Which astonishingly she hasn't let impede her career! I shall now weep for all the beautiful people who have suffered so much because of their looks.
