Game Seven. Conference Finals

Tonight Carolina plays Buffalo in the Conference finals of the Stanley Cup.  Game 7.  If we lose this Buffalo goes on to play in the finals and I will cry like a baby.   

I do not have the greatest luck with sports teams, though I make up for this with eternal and probably quite stupid loyalty. So if you are on my flist, don't support another team and do have luck in this area please pray to the hockey gods tonight.  Pray that the doom that has always surrounded the Whalers and the Hurricanes gets lifted just this once.  

Sadly, I do not think I will able to watch the game as I am too nervous and fearful. I am that pathetic.

Films to heal the sick

To celebrate tonight's victory in the Stanley Cup Playoffs I bring you a list of films and shows that I watch when ill. Because that's what you're all really curious about.

These aren't films that aren't really the best things out there (but I have an unholy love for them, even the rubbish ones), but they are films or shows I've watched so often that I find them tremendously comforting and reassuring.  And usually when I am ill what I want is something I can watch comfortably without hurting my brain. 

And because I can: GO CAROLINA!!!!!  WE WON!!!

Favourite Opera moments

I'm about to do the yearly shelling out of money to Los Angeles Opera (though not for season tickets this year, as last season had too many dodgy productions to lure me back to that extent) and as a way to steel myself up to handing over the credit cards I decided to post some of my favourite opera moments.  These are the ones where I am reminded of everything that I love about opera and that it's worth the money and the occasional five hour performance or ill-advised use of plastic which crunches so loudly it interferes with the singers (I am still not over that occuring in Parsifal this season).
