I very much hope that Polanski spends the rest of his days in jail and that the idiots signing petitions in support of him never have a successful film again, but as that is unlikely to happen, I'd settle for him spending more than 42 days in jail and his supporters making an apology for being offensive morons.

Also, I don't buy the argument that this is a waste of California's money:* it is important to show that the great and powerful don't get to waltz all over the weak and vulnerable and get rewarded with Oscars and success.

(*And, you know, that money wouldn't have had to be wasted if he hadn't skipped the country rather than serve time for raping a child.)
