lesbiassparrowOMG, PEOPLE. EDWARD IS JOSEPH ANDREWS.
You know that scene in the third book where Bella has got him in bed and is taking his clothes off and is trying to get naked and he actually says that he wants to save his virtue for marriage AND EVEN USES THE WORD? That made the entire series for me. Meyer can do whatever she wants: she can have the werewolves and vampires stalk and sparkle at everyone in Forks and imprint on all the toddlers for 50 miles. Because that scene is pure, unadulterated amazingness in about 50 different ways. The only thing that could make it better is to have a few lusty noblewomen waylay Edward and have him fight them off to save his honour and his chastity for Bella alone. Henry Fielding would be proud of Meyer, so proud. (And if you've never read Joseph Andrews, you should. It is one of the greatest comic novels ever written. And don't let its age fool you: Fielding may have written it in the 1740s but it is hilarious.)

Date: 2009-03-26 09:47 am (UTC)LOLOLOL! You know, Stephenie Meyer gets a lot of flak for this but it's actually the thing I love best about Twilight. It's just so... cheesy, you can't.not.love.it.
I am so adding that to my MUST-READ list. :P
