Obscure costumes
Oct. 31st, 2005 11:20 pmThis Halloween I dressed up as Nell Gwyn. Unfortunately, even after explaining the oranges in my basket people still didn't know who Nell Gwyn was. And I am not explaining to a bunch of teenagers that she was a whore and the mistress of Charles II. So I explained her as 'famous actress and friend of royalty' and appended the suggestion that they should ask their history teachers.
However, this was still better than the time I dressed as the ghost of Shelley and people thought Shelley was a woman and wanted to know why she was dressed in 19th century clothing.
Also my plan for future Halloweens is to dress as increasingly obscure mistresses of Royalty. Louise de la Valliere, here I come!
