You know they tell you you'll feel great after quitting smoking? Oh, they say, 'you'll smell things so much better, your lungs will personally thank you, you will skip around surrounded by daisies and lambs and other such delightful wonders of the world.'* Pah! 10 days in and I have a 5 day old hacking cough which is only kept at bay by copious consumption of cough syrup (and that stuff ain't cheap), I feel horrible, and I have even less sense of smell than when I was worshipping at nicotine's wonderful altar. It is horrifically wrong. The upside is that my cough is such that I don't actually feel like smoking because I am too busy hacking away (which I am sure is as unpleasant to listen to as it is to actually do).
*They may not actually say all of this, but they probably should.
