I am thinking of buying a digital camera. I used to have one but it has vanished like the snows of spring somewhere never to be found again. And, besides, it was a cheap one bought in Italy after the old one was stolen in Rome by wicked thieves with no honour. Does anyone have any recommendations? I don't need anything too sophisticated. In fact, simple and idiot proof is really ideal.

And bonus part of post: favourite scene so far of Bad Love is eyebrows keeling over in a coffee shop and writhing in agony for a minute before the hero notices anything is amiss behind him. Apparently Eyebrows has a tumor! It's like Stained Glass all over again but I suspect he won't walk into the sea in this one. Hopefully that means that the hero and heroine also won't have to feel all guilty for ten years before they get together.

ETA: Evil wife is drinking wine from the bottle because hero and heroine have gotten back together and now she is wailing at him about it and saying that the heroine ruined her life. Get a grip, woman! You ruined your life because you're a hideous bint with no sense of boundaries or limits. I wish someone would clonk her on the head and put her out of her giant haired misery.

ETA: Oh! I've been watching the Stargate series (the original not the Atlantis one) on Space (Canadian SciFi equivalent). It's strange because all I ever see are random episodes so I don't have much of a sense of any storylines. But I have questions!

a) Is Daniel the one all the alien babes fall in love with? Doesn't he have a dead wife or something? Shouldn't he be off being emo about her and not jumping alien babes?
b) Why don't people fall in love with Carter? She's cute and competent and people should be in love with her.
c) Do they actually have a reason for jumping through gates or do they just do this because they can? Or are they really scoping out new locations for McDonald's franchises?
d) Why did McGyver get replaced with Farscape people?
e) Why isn't everyone in love with Carter? I will keep asking this because I feel they should be.
f) Is Teal'c ever not stoic?

I really like my Nikon. You won't be able to buy the one I have now because it was sorta low-end when I bought it in 2005, but it's served me faithfully. I've fallen ONTO it when I was drunk and it was turned on more than once and except there's a bent bit of trim, it's kept on trucking.I only paid like $200 for it or so, and it's just 5.6 megapixels, but I like it because I can throw it in my purse and not care if it gets bumped.

On the other end of the spectrum, I have a Nikon D-70S that was a graduation present from high school and it's super fancy and I don't use it enough because it's sorta HUGE. Takes amazing pictures though. I feel guilty because it just sits around being decorative.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think that the high end one would do for me as I'd no doubt drop it and then be very sad as it shattered. Plus high end usually means that there are more terrifying buttons and options.

Yeah it functions like a normal film camera, which I also have one of. I was super into photography the last two years I was in high school. I miss it. I'd really like to have a darkroom one day. But you've just stated the main reason I rarely use it.

a) Yes, he is. He spent the first several seasons looking for her. Actually, I think he's been faithful to her throughout the series so far, even though she's been dead several seasons. There've been a couple women he "came close" with, but never actually went very far with. Mostly, they fall for him a lot, and he has a serious hero complex, but I don't think he's ever really been lured away. I know there were definately no women while she was alive(well, of his free will) and I think the closest he's come since she died was he was reunited with his ex from a long time ago, but she was kidnapped by the goa'uld and became a host, and she disappeared after he saved her. I know Claudia Black plays his love interest the last couple seasons(he was single for a good 4 or so years in between, it's ok.)

b) THEY DO! A LOT! They just...tend to get killed off. My favorite was Martuff/Lantash, who was played by J.R. Bourne with the amazingly bright and pretty blue eyes.

c) THEY MUST CONTACT AND MAKE ALLIANCES WITH ALIEN SPECIES AND COLLECT ALIEN TECHNOLOGY TO DEFEND THE EARTH FROM THE GOA'ULD AND OTHER ALIEN INVADERS!

d) MacGuyver got tired of playing Jack.

e) THEY ARE! ESPECIALLY JACK!

f) A bit in recent seasons. Very little. Ok, pretty much never, but he learns to be not-quite-as-stoic. But who wants an unstoic Teal'c, anyway?

Isn't Carter the bestest thing ever?

I have missed all the Carter action thus far. Maybe Space only shows the one with Daniel action or almost action.

I think they lie about their reasons for space jumping. They are simply looking for fun and good times and possibly Daniel's wife. When they remember about her.

Carter is the best thing ever. I love her a lot.

I think most Carter action is in early seasons. From around 5 on, it's mostly just UST with Jack with the occasional fantasy kiss, plus her relationship with Pete.

They were actively looking for Daniel's wife until she died. Then they were looking for her son who Daniel promised to protect even though it wasn't his(but she didn't cheat! she was possessed by a goa'uld!)

Have you read my posts? I love her beyond all reason. Even more than Teal'c.

I'm pretty happy with my Canon Powershot. It's pretty idiot-proof and straightforward for my needs!

Have to say, I never really feel the love for Carter. I find her kind of a nerdboy's MarySue, or something. Or maybe it's just the actress I don't dig.

I'll have a look at that model. Thanks!

I really like Carter. Mind you, I am watching random episodes and not seeing a whole season through and maybe that helps. As for a nerd boy's dream come true I think that's the Claudia Black character in the glimpses I've seen of her character. :)

Heee. Claudia Black's character is any boy's (and many a girl's) dream come true. Vala is also super-annoying, though I kept watching out of my love for the Farscape days...

I am afraid that Claudia Black's character never recovered from the fact that she wore her hair in bunches in the first episode I saw. And sat on Daniel's lap as she talked to him.

Bad Love sounds so awesome. I really must watch it. You had me at the writhing on the ground part.

We are having a second writhing scene. Actually this is more of a shaking backwards and forwards and then collapsing thing. This time in front of heroine!

I love this one and I love hating the evil wife. Sure, your husband cheated on you but you also cheated on him and are COMPLETELY INSANE. She likes to sit at home rocking herself backwards and forwards threatening things to the heroine for daring to go out with the half-brother she hates.

Normally I would be condemning the heroine for the adultery but at this point I think she's more than paid for it....

So which side is the tendril on now?

There's two now! She must be extra evil.

BTW, you always have great pictures (like the recent set) - what camera do you use?

It's a Panasonic Lumix, model DMC-TZ1". It's the best digital we've ever owned. We also have an HP Photosmart 735, and although it takes very nice pictures, the battery life is crap.

Oh, and double tendrils?! Lock up your loved ones!

Thank you for the name and the link.

Re the HP - thanks for the warning - I'm not so keen on the ones with poor battery life as it's a real pain if you're somewhere and forget the adapter...

I have a Canon Powershot 610, which is pretty easy to use, but has additional features for more complicated stuff should I ever overcome my laziness to learn how to use it properly.

I am quite bitter that they lowered the price after I bought one though.

Thanks for the suggestion. You're the second person to recommend a Powershot. And I think it is some cosmic law that no sooner do you buy a digital camera than they lower the price...
