Er, does anyone know a fancy French word for a bedspread, something that one of those pretentious catalogues would use? I've been googling and can't find one.
Duvet sadly (as I said above) just isn't fancy enough for this context and gives the wrong image for English reads as well; I had thought about couvre-lit, but wasn't sure if it even popped up in catalogues. But it does sound nice and pretentious. Thanks so much for the suggestions.
I thought of coverlet because it's unusual enough that it might work, but it just didn't look right. And it needs to be something that is by default expensive as well, so quilt is sadly out, I think. But thanks for the suggestions. Hmmm. I shall keeping thinking!
