In a comment on my entry below [livejournal.com profile] queenthesixth wrote: And let's all write a fan fic where Tom Quinn walks into the north sea and washes up in Australia where he uses his man pain to be the best cattle wrangler he can be!!

My level of sadness almost approaches that of Tom Quinn's when I reflect that this story has not been written. The tragic tragedy of it all. WOES.

ps. I know I owe a response on the top 5 fannish things. But some of those were hard.

This reminds me: have we ever talked about my all-time favorite horrid tv show? Snowy River: The MacGregor Saga. It stars a waaaay-before-famous (and so young!) Guy Pearce and HUGH JACKMAN as a tortured sailor! IT IS THE BEST THING EVER.

I raise you Twice in a Lifetime, especially with the first angel Mr Smith whom I'm convinced was played by a gay actor hamming it up for the camp value.

The tragic thing is that with my unerring ability to be drawn to bad tv I bet I end up seeing this one of these days.

(Haven't forgotten about your picspam! Promise!)

I think they might play reruns of Twice in a Lifetime on Vision TV, which you should get if you have cable.

I don't think so. And it's only $20 on Amazon. The temptation is soooo very strong. So strong.

Get it, get it! Though the series that [livejournal.com profile] sajia recommened sounded good, too. But: Guy Pearce and Hugh Jackman as drovers/SAD SAD SAILORS! Too good to pass up! And my favorite, the time when they switched casting on the sister and made ZERO effort to get someone who looked/acted remotely like the first sister!

I realize that the story has not been written nor am I the one to write it (no talent in writing fiction) but I have entertained myself all day with an image of Tom being picked up by a freighter in the Irish Sea that's bound for Australia. He pays his way by swabbing decks, cleaning whatever needs to be cleaned and cooking. He broods while crossing the Atlantic, broods while crossing the Suez Channel, chases the Somali pirates off with the power of his brooding (they think he has some sort of plague!), broods while sailing the Indian Sea and wafts ashore at Darwin (after brooding his way through several ports along the way). The flespots of Bombay had no power against his brood. Bangkok (Or whatever the port city is in Thailand) - the same. Singapore's delights wilt before the power of The Brood. Only Australian cattle are impervious.
Do you suppose the sight of Jackman's naked torso would lift the brood somewhat?

This is perhaps the most beautiful outline of a story I have ever seen. The world is a better place for it.
