YOU CANNOT BE BEATEN BY THE US!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU MUST REDEEM THE SHAME OF TURIN.

ETA: No redemption so far. SHAME ON YOU ALL. SHAME SHAME SHAME.

ETA 2: Well, fuck.

ETA 3: Am I the only person who finds the brother and sister dancing duos in the skating a little...well, creepy? Maybe that's the effect of Blades of Glory, though.

I'm torn. I know I should root for USA, but I want to cheer for Canada, too.

To be honest, right at this moment the Americans look like the better team. So you should cheer for Canada to balance things out. :)

They equalized!!! (I am secretly cheering for USA - after they told me on TV that every single Canadian player is above 6 feet something. These are monsters.)

Nooooooooooooo. You cannot cheer for the Americans; they don't even care about hockey in the US. But it will all send Canada into a complete meltdown if the Canadians lose.

They are losing again!!!!(Eurosport is switching between this and ice dancing)

Ok, I'll cheer for Canada. I am feeling very magnanimous since Russia won Czechs

Some of us do. I, however, am not one of them. The last time I watched an entire hockey game, pro or amateur, was Lake Placid in 1980.

I'm getting the impression that we were supposed to lose.

True some Americans do care. But Canada invented the game! That makes it totally their gold medal. Or possibly that of the Swedes. Or the Russians. Or...

Er. You have a great goalie.

TOTALLY CREEPY.

Also: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Normally, Canada is my backup nation to cheer for if my other national affiliations are out and/or there's not random hottie in there (hello, Aksel Lund Svindal!). But the whole "own the podium" stuff and the shenanigans about the sliding track made me totally anti-Canada this time. It's been so much fun! :D

The morning newscaster on our local cable station, NY1, is Canadian, and he just lamented the inglorious defeat of his Canadian team by the U.S., on U.S. television. I kind of love him.

The shame of Canada cannot be hidden. Public wailing is all we have left.
