The opening scene of President Roslin seeing snakes? I loved it. In myth snakes are sacred animals because they are part of the upper and lower worlds, as the person most obviously lingering between this world and the next as her illness gets more severe, Roslin’s vision makes sense. Or at least it does to me. But is Roslin being played by the Cylons, like Balthar, or does she play some role for them too?

I am wondering about the reach of the Cylons, though. Were they based that far out for a long time? Are the BSG people going through their home territory – or are there so many of them that they’re everywhere?

And Adama – not so big with sensible comfort, is he? I mean, I’m not sure that I would be thrilled to know that the only reason I wouldn’t fail is that I’m someone’s son. I know it was well meant, but not perhaps the best choice of words. But it did fit with the uncomfortable relationship between Lee and his father. And Adama really likes sticking it to the president doesn’t he? ‘Those who need to know’ indeed. And the president doesn’t need to know – even though the civilians gave up freighters? I’m hoping that Ron Moore is not going with some massive valorization of the military over the civilians for the rest of this show, because that would irk.

That is interesting. I like the idea that visions and manifestations are occuring as a result of her passing between this and the next 'realm'. I had not come up with any satisfactory explanation for her visions, besides the obvious, she's taking drugs. I like this better. Now, what her visions mean and how she acts upon them (and whether cylons are pulling the strings) that's also interesting. I can't help thinking of Angel and all the prophesy business, it's all about interpretation, and how you act as a result of what you think you know.

I replied over at ST about Adama, its funny I think we have similiar opinions about the complexity of the uncomfortable relationship, but I took the lighter business to be an over-simplification of their relationship. Though I agree, really, saying 'because he's his son', is pretty insulting. Why not say something about his skill and talent?

As for the 'those that need to know', I can buy not telling the President given the tenuous strings they have regarding who's in charge any way. Adama is not predisposed to relinquishing control to Roslin, foolishly perhaps.
