I was not able to resist after the squee that I saw on everyone else's journal The show I loved is back. Except for fat Lee, that is.

I loved this episode even with the overriding feel o'doom that BSG is deeply in love with. Yes, I know it's post apocalyptic and thus there is not much room for the cheer and joy, but they do like to pile it on don't they.

I don't have much to say except that

a. The Kara story freaked me out and worked even though I am not really fond of the way women't ovaries play such a key part in so much SciFi including this one. And I give Katie Sackhoff (sp?) props for turning in an excellent performance without any cockiness at all. I assumed that at the end that Kara is playing Leoben and that something terrible will happen to the winsome child what is lying in her bed. I wonder if they actually would or could go so far as having her kill the child?

b. Fat Lee wounded me, but not as much as his dad equating being physically overweight with being morally and mentally lax and flabby. I can see having Adama Snr. as a dad must have been a whole bunch of laughs. Now we know how he 'motivated' Zach to be a pilot

c. The obvious paralells with contemporary politics and the war in Iraq (and not just there) were intriguing. I wonder how much they will push it? That's got to be the most sympathetic portrayal of suicide bombers ever seen on American TV.

d. Poor Gaeta. I hope he doesn't end up killed by Tyrol who then finds out how Wrong He Was, because that would be horrible. Especially as Gaeta has had to suffer through the increasing greasiness of his one time idol.

I am back to adoring everything about Starbuck.

In a way I liked this moment - it put a totally new perspective on "Why Lee was so bad to Adama" in the season 1 and sometimes in a season 2. I won't blame him!

Poor Lee! Adama must have been all sorts of special as a father.
