The decline of Western Civilisation. Or what passes for it in Los Angeles

The news here led with a story of Nicole Kidman having a car accident while filming. Not even a deadly one, but a minor car accident in which everyone was released from hospital within hours. (Fox was promising exciting reconstructions of the accident from various angles.)

Apparently this was more important than Iraq, dead bodies being found...you know, real news. Living in Los Angeles I am used to film premieres being touted to me as news stories, but usually they have the decency not to start with those stories.

Oh, wow. Lead story? That's...huh. The only way I can imagine it being at all newsworthy in the first place is if the accident had somehow, I don't know, knocked the botulism out of her face.
