My god, I hate all of these people. Except for crazy granny, she's okay, though clearly slumming it on this show. And stop trying to convince me you are 15! Can't you exploit actual 15 year olds?* Or people who are at least under 25.

And why does the one black kid allowed in Beverly Hills have white parents? TELL ME THESE THINGS, OH FLIST.

* The English teacher looks younger than most of his students. Maybe he is one of the poor who has worked his way through college at the age of 14 so he can teach the rich kiddies?

ETA: Clearly if I want a teens angst in high school show I should watch Gossip Girl. I would but I am so scared that there is no way that Chuck Bass on my TV can possibly match up what I've heard and seen of him.

I MISSED THAT CRITICAL POINT. I MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE BEEN SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME WONDERING WHY THEY WERE ALL SO OLD

WHY DO THEY HAVE PIGS HANDY? ARE THEY INTO BEASTIALITY TOO? THAT WOULD BE BETTER THAN WHAT THEY'VE GOT AT THE MOMENT.

Clearly, they are going for the all important 'I like my men waxed and shiny' teen market.

These are supposed to be high school students?

Hey! They look younger than most of the other 'teen' cast.

Crazy grandmother is awesome. And PLZ, high school in Beverly Hills was never like that - except for the cars. And I did have a couple of young hot teachers but one of them was a douche, sigh. And it was mostly rich Persians, not rich white people, rofl. I HATE that main girl, ugh. She looks like she's 30.

The teacher looked younger than most of them. I think that's why they gave him a beard.

LOL! We were at the mall today and they had a huge billboard/poster thingy advertising it. We looked at it and were all, "That guy is at least 28. And that chick's got to be pushing 25. Why don't they get real kids?"

I don't know why they don't at least use 19 year olds. Surely there has to be a plethora of good-lucking ones around in Los Angeles.

You were wise to stay away: it really is not nearly as much cheesy fun as I had hoped. In fact, they had deeply sincere guitar singing on it for a few seconds!

Yes! But sadly it is not very much fun. I am very disappointed in it, indeed!

So they're keeping in the fine tradition of the original show, where Luke Perry's character had an immensely receding hairline for a high school kid.

But the real question is: how were Brenda and Kelly (the carryover characters/rivals from the original)?

From: [identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com
They were all pretty forgettable. Are Brenda and Kelly the Kansans? Because apart from their crazy drunken grandma they are a bit boring.

Brenda and Kelly were the lead characters in the original series, and the only reason I might bother with this is because I used to watch them in their early years and am curious how they turned out.

Haven't seen the new one and probably won't. It's because I don't watch TV (too cheap to pay for cable or satellite) more than anything else.

I just thought I'd point out that the original BH 90210 kids were *supposed* to be my age. The characters started as 11th graders when I was in 11th grade. It was so cool at the time. But for show purposes, everyone repeated that year. I don't know if that made them a year younger or what.

But yeah... all those characters in the original should be about 34 (my age currently) with David being the younger guy at about 32.

They've got the old ones on as elder statesmen. Or principals and parents. It probably would have been more fun if they'd made them pretend to be high school students.

I think the actors in GG are all around 19/20 years old, so I don't know why some shows have to go so O/T with high school kids played by people in their mid to late 20's.

They tried to sell Matt as a troubled teen on Nip/Tuck, but it just becomes ridiculous in season 4 when you're still being told he's 17, and the actor clearly is not :/

Matt on Nip/Tuck was hard to take as a 17 year old, but at least he was the only one. This time they seem to have found a whole slew of much too old actors.

I should really watch Gossip Girl, but I've heard such splendid things about it and Chuck that I am terrified I will be disappointed.

Oh in that case it probably will be a let-down lol, I'd never rave over Gossip Girl as a show that people must watch or anything. It's more a fun guilty pleasure type show. I mean I think it's better than some people give it credit for, but a lot of it's appeal rests solely on Chuck and Blair. The other characters tend to be quite bland.

And it hurts the show for me when for example it's Matt from Nip/Tuck or Clark from Smallville that we're supposed to relate too as an angsty teenage boy. When the actor looks like he's in his mid 20's, well I know for me that I tended to side a lot more with Lex during their arguments, and maybe if Clark had actually looked 15/16, I might have seen that characters POV more. So I think it does hurt the show as well when they get too ridiculous with it. But then Lana, Chloe, and Pete all looked age-appropriate funnily enough hee, so Clark really did stick out like a sore thumb

Well, Tristan Wilds (the black kid) actually IS a teenager (barely, he's nineteen, but still ...) I kind of weep for him, though, because he was on "The Wire" and he was really amazing on that show, so I KNOW he can act. And now he's in this crapola! Ugh!

I think Tristan Wilds has got the miserable Pete on Smallville role. It's a huge waste if he is talented, but on the plus side he cannot but shine surrounded by this lot.

Chuck's funny, but he really gets on my damn nerves, and I hate when people swoon over him. It's kinda gross, considering what a total dickhead he is. Oh, and he's a twice-attempted rapist in the show's pilot so...yeah.
